In the last 3 weeks I have had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with customers that have had bathtub liners installed over their old tubs. In all 3 cases, there was leaking at the drain with water between the old tub and the insert. In 2 cases, the liners had been installed less that 3 years ago.

So how do you correct a problem like this? Well, you cut a hole in the bottom of the tub, suck out all the water and then piece by piece, cut and remove the liner. What you are left with is a black sticky glue substance that has to be removed and the tub cleaned. A new drain assembly must then be installed.

I am proud to say that in all these cases I was able to restore the tubs to a like new appearance and save the homeowners thousands of dollars when they thought their only option was to remove it all. It wasn’t easy but the end result was a beautiful refinished tub all at a fraction of the price of the intial tub liner cost.

The important lesson here is to be sure you ask questions and do your homework before installing a liner. You should ask for references and call different companies including a refinisher to have your questions answered. Shop like you would when buying a car. Don’t just look at the picures but get into the nitty gritty. Most of the the companies that sell the liners are very high pressure and ask for an immediate decision. They will offer a few hundred dollars off the price to entice you. The cost of the liners run from $1300.00 up to $5000.00 or more for the tub and the walls. You could have the entire tub and the wall tile replaced for less than that.

Refinishing of the tub is the most cost effective way to go. Renew It All offers unlimited colors and now also offers the option of the granite look for your tub and tile. you could have a white tub and a granite wall surround. No one can offer you more options and color combinations.

If you have any questions concerning refinishing or bathtub liners calls us and we’ll tell you. The truth is always the best option!
